Training Workshop FAQ
For the first time in South Africa - possibly the world, a successful web development company is making its own internal training programmes available to the public!
Is this really the exact same training that you use in-house?
Yes it is. The course material and presentation is identical in all regards.
Why would you make this publically available?
There are a couple of things that come into play here. Firstly, we have long ago realised that people who are going to do it themselves, are going to do it themselves. While we do get a number of requests to redevelop DIY websites that have failed, we also see a much larger number of individuals and small businesses giving up on their websites altogether, thinking that the entire concept is flawed when in fact it isn't. All it needed was some knowledge, skill and time. Sharing our knowledge is not perceived as a threat to ourselves, particularly as a large focus of our business is website hosting and reseller hosting. If our clients and resellers succeed, then one way or another, so will we.
Secondly, we have also learned from experience that clients who understand the basics are easier to work with than those who don't, even just as a hosting provider. While we provide lots of information and tutorials as well as spending hours on the telephone explaining it all and advising clients, many people are more tactile and learn best by doing. Some people feel totally daunted when confronted with pages and pages of information and we understand this. Our thinking is, we give the information away anyway, why not formalise it and do it in a way that helps the more practically bent as well?
Finally, we've been around for quite some time. In this time we have seen so many fly-by-night operators come and go, leaving a wake of destruction behind them that it taints the entire industry. (once bitten, twice shy means the legitimate operators have to work that much harder to gain trust). Some of these Johnny-come-lately's had good intentions. They wanted to do it right, but didn't know how. We want to equip these operators to succeed. Whether you look at the positive effects this has on the economy in the end or the positive effects it has on just the web development industry, everybody wins in the end, including us.
Then there are the others. Armed with Frontpage and a high-impact marketing approach, they sell themselves as web-developers; and armed with the scantest of (often detrimentally incorrect) information, they sell themselves as SEO experts. - We want you to know better than to waste your money on these operators because you cannot afford not to. Knowledge really is power.
Do you ever offer these courses elsewhere in the country?
We do not yet offer this on a single-booking basis, but we hope to within the forseeable future.
Organisations, associations and other groups who do want to book a full workshop at a different location and a venue that they provide, can however do so. Transport and accommodation for the facilitator will be to the client's expense, but in many cases would be offset by the group discount anyway. - Please contact us with your exact requirements.
